Healthy Students Learn Better
Kentucky Student Services has been bringing board-certified vision, hearing, and dental care directly to Kentucky schools since 2000 — and we're returning in August 2027.
Our Mission
KSS exists to reach children who aren't receiving routine exams — children whose parents rely solely on school screenings, don't have transportation, can't afford an office visit, have no insurance, or simply don't know what they're missing. We bring board-certified Ophthalmologists, Audiologists, and Dentists directly into schools so that no child falls through the cracks.
Reaching the Underserved
We serve rural and inner-city schools across Kentucky — the communities where specialist access is most limited and the need is greatest.
Board-Certified Standards
Every screening is performed by a credentialed specialist — not a technician or aide. Our providers meet the same standards as any private practice.
Relationships That Last
We've watched children start in Early Childhood Centers and go on to graduate high school. Our annual visits build real relationships — because we genuinely care.
Our Story
KY Student Services has been serving Kentucky schools since 2000. For years, our team of board-certified specialists and trained technicians traveled to rural and inner-city schools, providing on-site vision, hearing, and dental exams to children who would otherwise never see a specialist.
We took a long break after COVID. The years that followed were spent homeschooling our own children — our son graduated this year, and our daughter is a junior. But the calls never stopped. Several counties reached out to us every year asking when we'd be coming back.
After two years of preparation, KY Student Services will be returning to the Kentucky school system starting August 2027. We can't wait to reconnect with the communities that have meant so much to us — and to meet a whole new generation of students who need us.
"Several counties have reached out to us each year to see when we will be returning."
Why This Work Matters
Some parents rely solely on school screenings and don't realize the necessity of a full exam. They may not know about hereditary diseases — often silent, passed down through generations — that affect their children's vision and hearing. Some families have no transportation. Some can't afford the office visit. Some have no insurance. We have seen all of these situations throughout the years. That's exactly why we show up.
Meet Our Specialists
Every KSS provider is board-certified or licensed in their specialty, with years of experience working with school-age children across Kentucky.
Ophthalmologist
Board-Certified Ophthalmologist
Our board-certified ophthalmologist brings clinical-grade vision assessments directly to your school — going far beyond a standard eye chart to identify refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus, and other conditions that affect how children see and learn.
Audiologist
Licensed Audiologist
Our licensed audiologist uses professional-grade equipment to identify hearing concerns that standard school screenings miss — including conductive and sensorineural hearing loss, middle ear issues, and auditory processing concerns.
Dentist
Licensed Dentist
Our licensed dentist brings a calm, child-friendly approach to every school visit. With a background in community dental health, they identify cavities, gum concerns, and oral hygiene needs — and connect families with the care their children need.
